There is a beautiful, black Great Dane named Tonka and he is a certified therapy dog with The Dog Alliance in Cedar Park, Tx. He is a HUGE teddy bear and before the COVID-19 virus, he would visit senior centers in his community to spread joy to the residents. Since the outbreak, Tonka has not been able to visit his friends.
His handler, Courtney Leigh knew that the residents missed Tonka and Tonka missed them. So, she thought of a unique way to still bring joy into their hearts without risking exposure. Tonka and Courtney would go to each residents window and say hello to all of them. He'd paw at the window and the residents would write notes to his owner/handler Courtney to tell them they miss him.
Courtney said, "these window-side interactions are important to the senior citizens and to her and Tonka as well. We're so excited to be able to jut make them smile today." To read the article, CLICK HERE. To see the video click below ↓
