Girl Writes Thank-You Letter To Mail Carrier, Gets Dozens From USPS Workers

Today we meet 11 yr old Emerson Weber from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, she recently decided to write a letter to thank her mail carrier for making sure her letters get where they need to go. In her letter to Doug, she introduces herself and explains, “I make people happy with my letters, but you do too.”“You are very important in my life because I don’t have a phone so how else am I supposed to stay in touch with my friends?,” the fifth-grader writes. “You make it possible!” Doug shared Emerson’s letter with his supervisor at the U.S. Postal Service who shared it in an internal newsletter.

Doug wrote back saying he was touched and brought her stamps. And soon she started getting letters from other USPS workers reaching out to thank her for saying thank you and to make a connection. They’ve sent her jokes, gifts, and shared details about their lives and Emerson is loving it all.
