Community Helps Boy With Autism Get Service Dog

A teenager in Texas is getting the service dog he needs, thanks to support from his community. Luke Berridge, 14, has high functioning autism and anxiety and a service dog will help him. When his family realized how much it will cost, they decided to fundraise by baking brownies.

Some anonymous donors have given money and ordered the sweet treats to be delivered to front line workers, others asked them to bring the brownies to the Odessa Police Department, the Ector County Sheriff’s Office, and local fire stations. In just two weeks, they raised nearly $4-thousand for the service dog.

“We weren't expecting this kind of outpouring,” says Luke's father,Todd. Now the family has met their fundraising goal and the search for the perfect dog for Luke is on.
