Adopted Girl Helps Senior Dogs Find Forever Homes

A teen in California has raised thousands for older dogs to try to help find them a forever home, just like she did when she was adopted. Meena Kumar was born in India, adopted and brought to San Jose, California. The 14-year-old loves dogs and works as a pet sitter to raise money for Muttville Senior Dog Rescue, a cage-free dog rescue that gives older dogs a “second chance at life.”

Meena got involved with the rescue after hearing about how senior dogs are often left behind in shelters. Knowing what it was like to be left behind, she wanted to help the older dogs find a loving home they deserved. So she started Pet Fairy Servicesoffering pet sitting and after years of hard work, she raised $7-thousand. That amount was matched by Intel, where her father works, and she was able to give $14-thousand to Muttville. She plans to continue working with them to help older mutts find homes.

"More people should adopt senior dogs," says Meena. "They give you the same unconditional love as any other dog."
