When I went to Paris 2 years ago, the first thing I wanted to try was the onion soup. (I'm a simple girl!)
I assumed they don't call it "French" onion soup there, and that just now occurred to me. I don't remember now if it had French in front of it on any menus... weird... anyway, the first bowl I had was at a sidewalk cafe in the Maramont district. I had no idea what to do because I was not sure if this was the true onion soup for them and we in the USA changed it up to what we know it as today, or if they had just served me the dish water. It got better after that at a couple of different places, but I can't wait to try it myself using the recipe I found here. And lots of other stuff I want to try and make!
