(WOWT) -- Adjust your interstate game. A major construction project launches Monday that's going to tangle traffic at I-480 and the Kennedy Freeway over the coming weeks.
Brace yourself for slower traffic or map out alternate travel plans.
The Nebraska Department of Roads says extended closures of southbound I-480 ramps to eastbound I-80 and southbound US-75 will begin on Monday, March 6 at 10:00 p.m.
The closures are needed for bridge deck repairs with a 3 inch asphalt overlay on waterproofing membrane, replacing the bridge approaches and to remodel the bridge wings and abutments.
From downtown, drivers are advised to take the 480 Bridge across to Iowa, head south on Interstate 29 to Interstate 80 and then take I-80 westbound. (See the accompanying maps)
The ramps are scheduled to reopen before the College World Series arrives in June.
