Five Injured In Omaha School Bus Crash

Five people were injured in a Tuesday afternoon crash involving a car and school bus.

Authorities say the crash was reported just before 4:30 near 63rd and Ames and that the bus did have four students and the driver on board at the time of the accident.

One student was taken to the hospital for injuries. Four people in the car were injured, one critically.

Authorities say the bus was travelling eastbound on Ames and was attempting to turn north on 63rd Street when the car hit the back end of the bus.

Witnesses told police that the car appeared to be travelling at a high rate of speed.

The crash shut down the east and westbound lanes of Ames Avenue.
