It's Election Day, What You Need To Know

(WOWT) -- Cheers greeted both candidates in Omaha's mayoral race Monday. Supporters for Heath Mello showed up for a rally outside his campaign headquarters. Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert arrived to a crowd at a hotel ballroom near 72nd & Grover.

Before both arrived to those cheers, it was a day of hard fought campaigning.

"For the future of our city, for the future of our neighborhoods to make sure everyone has a seat at the decision-making table," Mello said. "The only way we can do that is by making sure people get out and vote."

Mello spent the afternoon knocking on doors in north Omaha with former Congressman Brad Ashford by his side. Stothert took her campaigning to 72nd & Dodge at the height of the evening rush along with visiting local diners.

"It's just something that you don't stop," Stothert said. "It's just a continuous process because the more doors you knock on, the more voter contact, the better your campaign will be."
