"Eat Lunch, Fight Hunger" Food Trucks Start Today In Metro

You can eat lunch and fight hunger by helping to stock the shelves at the Food Bank for the Heartland this week.  They are partnering with  local restaurants to raise much needed money and awareness for childhood food insecurity.

"Many of us do not think about hunger during the summer but it is an especially difficult time for families who are struggling financially," said Susan Ogborn, president and CEO of Food Bank for the Heartland.  "Children are not in school and parents must factor additional food and child care costs into their budgets that are already stretched thin.  Eat Lunch, Fight Hunger is helping raise awareness and funds to combat hunger,"

The Eat Lunch, Fight Hunger food truck will be at four locations Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Patrons are asked to make a free will donation to the truck and receive a great meal.  All money raised will benefit the Food Bank's child hunger programs.

Four local restaurants are participating and donating the food that will be served from the food truck.   On Tuesday, May 23rd, Bakers will be providing the meals and the truck will be parked at 136th and California.  On Wednesday, May 24th, food will be provided by Pitch Pizzeria at 17th and Farnam.  On Thursday, May 25th, Crave will provide the meals served at 69th and Pine.  On Friday, May 26th, food from Ameristar Hotel and Casino will be served from the truck at 127th and I.
