Deputy Rescues Dog Locked In Hot Car

(WOWT) -- A Sarpy County deputy rescued a dog locked in a hot car parked outside a Bellevue apartment complex Monday.

Around 2:30 a.m. a passerby spotted the dog locked in a car near 25th and Capehart.

It was 82-degrees outside, and the car windows were rolled up.

A Sarpy County Deputy used a device to unlock the car, then placed the animal in the air-conditioned cruiser.

The dog's owner, Krysta Cruz told the deputy she got home with groceries around midnight, and forgot to bring the animal inside.

She's been cited for animal cruelty.
