UPDATE: Police Pursuit Ends With Two Injuries

Omaha police have identified the 21-year-old man involved in a high-speed pursuit that ended in a crash on southbound JFK at L Street Thursday afternoon

Investigators said the pursuit began when OPD Gang Unit Officer David Staskiewicz attempted to stop Micah Taylor. Police say Officer Staskiewicz struggled with Taylor and shots were fired. Taylor sustained a minor gunshot wound to the neck area.

Taylor fled the scene and was followed by officers and the OPD helicopter southbound on Highway 75. Speeds topped 80 miles per hour during the chase. Taylor eventually crashed in the area of Highway 75 and L Street, where he was placed into custody.

Police say Taylor's injuries are non-life threatening and he is currently in stable condition.  He will be held pending charges and will remain under police hospital guard.

Officer Staskiewicz suffered a non-gun related injury during the struggle and was treated and released from the hospital.   Police closed down JFK south of I-80 as they investigated.
