(WOWT) -- An SUV was pulled from Carter Lake Tuesday morning after an hours-long search by water rescue crews.
Omaha Fire and Water Rescue crews were called to the scene around 4:30 a.m.
A police officer on patrol reported seeing a car drive by and then the tail lights seemed to disappear. When the officer turned around, they found fresh tire tracks leading up to the water.
A rescue boat was launched along Carter Lake Shore Drive, which is along the west side of the lake. Authorities used sonar to search the lake. A buoy marker was placed at a section of the lake and a dive team entered the water.
A tow truck pulled an SUV from the lake just after 8 a.m. Online records show the SUV was reported stolen.
An investigation is underway.
