Fender Celebrates Duff McKagan With New Signature Bass Guitar

Celebrating Duff McKagan's most iconic work and his most recent work, Fender has announced the new Duff McKagan Deluxe Precision Bass.

The new instrument is based on the '80s Jazz Bass Special McKagan used while recording Guns N' Roses' 1986 debut, Appetite for Destruction, but with some subtle additions that make the bass perfect for McKagan's style.

McKagan recently announced a solo tour with Shooter Jennings in support of his forthcoming new solo album, Tenderness, which is available everywhere May 31.

You can pre-order the new album here.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer will presumably be using his new bass on tour and when he gets back in the studio with Guns N' Roses, which is expected to happen later this summer once he and Slash complete their respective solo touring obligations.

An evolution of his previous signature Precision Bass, the Deluxe includes a black painted Modern "C"-shaped maple neck with a "Deluxe Jazz Bass Special" headstock logo and rosewood fingerboard with pearloid block inlays.

The "12" inlay at the twelfth fret is a reference to McKagan's fandom of his hometown Seattle Seahawks.

The bass comes with a Fender vintage-style Precision Bass split-coil pickup with a Seymour Duncan STKJ2B Jazz Bass single-coil bridge pickup.

The Hipshot Bass Xtender allows for instant and accurate drop-tuning with the flick of a lever.
