The Senate Passes a Bill That Makes Animal Cruelty A Federal Felony

The Senate has unanimously passed a bill that makes animal cruelty a federal felony. It is called the PACT Act, which PACT stands for Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture. Under the PACT Act, a person can be prosecuted for causing harm to any animal and those convicted would face federal felony charges, fines and up to seven years in prison. Right now, all 50 states do have laws against animal cruelty on the state level.
