A Florida couple has given thousands to help local kids by wiping out unpaid school lunch fees. Michael and Roma Kahn of Florida gave over $7,600 to the Brevard Schools Foundation’s Lunch Angels Program, which helps students from struggling and low-income families get access to regular lunches. Each school lunch costs between $1.80 and $1.90 and the Kahn’s generosity will pay for at least 4,000 lunches. The couple say they got the idea after reading about a California third-grader who saved his allowance to pay off classmates’ overdue lunch accounts. The Kahns says they hope the gift will “help focus people on the needs of others” during a tough time of the year for some families.
