New Tech Suggests Recipes Using What’s Already In Your Fridge

Wouldn’t it be great if there was a way to find recipes to use up all the food you already have in your fridge? Now there is and it uses artificial intelligence. Samsung just introduced Food AI, a smart food platform for its line of smart refrigerators, at the CES 2020 trade show.

So how does it work? It uses a camera to look inside your fridge and then recommends a “curated feed of recipes that incorporate the ingredients you already have with your preferences, desires, and situational needs,” according to Samsung. You can input your dietary restrictions and it learns what you like based on your favorite recipes. This high-tech helper also makes suggestions based on recipes you save, on seasonal ingredients, and even based on the weather.

And one of the big reasons this technology was created is to help us waste less food, since the average person in the U.S. wastes 238-pounds of food a year - which is 21% of what they buy! Food AI can also help us get out of the recipe ruts some of us fall into, where we cook the same things over and over. Check out the fridge below ↓
