Church Pays Off $17-Million In Medical Debt For 9,100 Families

Stateline Church in Rockford, Illinois worked hard for six weeks to raise money to pay off medical bills for thousands of local families. They were able to collect $40-thousand and partnered with the nonprofit RIP Medical Debt, which forgives $100 in debt for every dollar raised.

Through their efforts, church leaders were able to forgive close to $17-million in outstanding medical bills for 9,100 families in the area. Associate pastor Tyler Johnson says, “We thought how cool it would be to very tangibly bring freedom and hope to some people in our community.”
