Tennessee Hospital Won’t Charge Tornado Victims

While residents in Tennessee who were affected by the deadly tornadoes that ripped through Nashville and other areas are trying to recover, one hospital is offering a bit of good news. A spokeswoman for Cookeville Regional Medical Center says they won’t be charging medical fees to the 82 people they treated for injuries after the storms.

Spokeswoman Melahn Finley explains that the hospital will bill each patient’s insurance company and accept the insurance’s payment as payment in full. “We will not bill patients for the remaining portion after insurance,” she says. “If they don’t have insurance, they will not be charged.”
