This story is going to make you feel SO good! A 99-year-old British World War II veteran has raised more than $12-million for the U.K.’s National Health Service. Tom Moore has done it by walking laps in his 82-foot back garden and even more impressive? He’s done it in just over a week!
The former Army captain started with a goal to walk 100 laps before his 100th birthday on April 30th and he was hoping to get $1,250 in donations through his page on the Just Giving fundraising site. But nearly half a million people have pitched in to his cause so far, pushing him way past his initial goal and it’s not over yet.
Moore says all the donations are “completely out of this world” and he plans to keep fundraising with another 100 laps, doing 10 laps a day. The money will go to NHS Charities Together, which supports medical staff, volunteers, facilities, and patients of the U.K.’s publicly funded healthcare system.
