Sanford Middle School in Minneapolis asked the community for help in response to the looting and destruction of grocery and convenience stores from the protests. They requested 85 meal kits be donated to help feed families in the area who wouldn’t have access to food. And the food drive that resulted shows just how much people care.
The school received so many donations that they covered the front lawn with bags of food and household supplies. They estimate they received tens of thousands of donations. The line of cars to drop off supplies was 14 blocks long in one direction and had traffic backed up all day. All of the extra donations will be given to local food banks.
