Lots of relationships have been tested because of lockdown, but one young couple is showing how determined they are to make their modern love story work out, despite being apart. Camila Baldasso, 17, tested positive for the coronavirus, despite having no symptoms. At the same time, her boyfriend, 19-year-old Collin Ouelette, tested negative, so he wasn’t able to isolate with her and they couldn’t be together while she recovered.
This was heartbreaking for the couple, but he pledged to show his devotion and keep her company from a safe distance until she got better. Collin told Camila he’d be there for her the whole time and he kept his word, sitting outside her Texas home every day for at least an hour. While she was quarantined up in her bedroom alone, he sat where they could visit from her window, brought her puzzles and some nights they even ate dinner together - while apart physically.
It was hard on the teen sweeties and Camila felt especially bad for him if it was raining or he was getting eaten alive by mosquitos, but she says his visits made her time in isolation so much better. And after two long weeks, she took another test and was negative for COVID-19, so Collin came over for a proper reunion. “When he pulled into the driveway,” she explains, “the first thing I did was give him the biggest hug on Earth.”
