Caricature artist, Joe Ferris has been drawing portraits of the elderly in New York since the pandemic started. It's a safe way to keep the residents entertained during these difficult times. He has the staff bring the patients to a big picture window where Joe does his magic. It gives the residents something to do and to look forward to doing during their day. It has brought excitement to the over 500 portraits of nursing home and assisted living residents he has drawn.
Joe says, "I think that adding some joy to an elderly person's life is like adding time into their life, because you know I think life isn't qualified by how many years someone has, but how much fun and how many smiles they have in those years."
