A pastor in Georgia recently treated a Waffle House waitress to the surprise of a lifetime with an enormous tip. Bishop Eusebio Phelps says he was struck by server Hannah Hill’s kindness during a recent visit to the diner chain and he was inspired to give her all the money he had in his wallet, around $40.
But when she mentioned that she would be naming her unborn son Samuel, Phelps says he felt it was a divine sign because his son Samuel died seven years ago. The leader of New Faith Christian Church wanted to raise money to help Hill out with her new baby and within a day, his supporters had raised over $12-thousand. He brought her a check to the restaurant and gave her the generous gratuity in what he calls a “surprise baby shower.” And on top of the money, the church is going to cover child care costs for both of Hill’s kids for a year!
“You gotta show the love of God to people you come into contact with,” Bishop Phelps says. “It was her kindness -- she was so kind and so pleasant. And that touched my heart.”
