Last week, Arianna Prince woke to find a cabinet in her family’s Winnsboro, Louisiana, home was on fire. The six-year-old quickly woke her mother, Misty Gorman, who rushed to get the rest of the family safely out of the house.
The family’s home was destroyed in the fire, but fortunately no one was injured. Now Gorman is crediting her baby girl with saving the whole family. “I didn’t even hear the smoke alarms. She did,” the proud mama says, “She was very brave."
Days after the incident, the Winnsboro Fire Department honored Arianna with the Citizen Life Saving Award. Interim Fire Chief Mikala Weems praised the six-year-old for her lifesaving response, saying, “I’m so grateful to Arianna for waking up her family and getting them out of the house, so that we didn’t have more tragedy added to the losing of their home.”
