Ok, so, its a "safe" gated community with security driving around frequently. I get it. I would allow my 5 year old out in the yard to play alone. Walk to a pond 6 blocks away... at 5 years old alone? No, I would not have done that. Not because I was a "good" or "bad" mother, just because at FIVE you don't know how to protect yourself if you are alone. If he fell in the pond, well, that could have been tragic. No going back. No "I wish I had said no".
Should she be on a child abuse registry for 7 years? No. In my opinion. Think of the dumb things you've done.
